The Virtual Law Office (VLO) is a free option I offer for my clients’ convenience. The VLO allows you to log in to your own secure area where we can exchange messages, information and documents. You can access it anywhere and at any time you have access to the Internet. While some VLOs exist only online, mine is here to complement the services I provide through the traditional “brick and mortar” office.
There is no charge to register or use the VLO. Clients and prospective clients are invited to register and have a look around the secure client area. Please keep in mind that merely registering for the VLO does not make a you a client of the firm. You only become a client after you and I have entered into an engagement agreement.
In your secure client area, you will be able to:
- Communicate with me confidentially through threaded personal discussions that are preserved in your case file
- View the documents in your file
- Exchange documents in a secure environment
- Use the calendar to propose or accept telephone or meeting appointments
- View invoices
Unlike email, which is generally not encrypted, communicating through the VLO provides the same privacy protection used by online banking and government institutions. Because your documents and communications are stored in a secure, central location, you will avoid wasting time looking for emails and documents on your computer. You also do not need to worry about accidentally deleting files and emails, or be concerned with employers/employees or family members accessing your confidential legal materials on your computer.
How does it work?
Clicking on “Register” takes you to a secure page where you will provide basic contact information, agree to Terms and Conditions, and select a password for your secure area. Once logged in, you will be able to create a message asking a question or requesting legal services. I will receive a notification informing me of your message and will respond within one business day, usually more quickly.
